American Schools

I've been asked if there are any "American" schools in Ireland. I had never heard of any so I called the American embassy in Dublin. They never heard of an "American" school in Ireland, either. It turns out that almost all embassy personnel send their younger children to the standard public/national primary schools - the same ones their Irish neighbours are using. Similarly, they send their high school age children to the local high schools.

It so happens that the American embassy is located near a private high school with an excellent reputation, so a goodly percentage of the kids go there. But, not all. Many are enrolled in other local high schools in south Dublin.
